Hope Everyone Had A Great Christmas!

I know, I know, "Why haven't you posted anything since November 30th?"  Well, I have been busy. LOL

We had a dive trip scheduled for December 11th but that was cancelled due to weather.  The trip was rescheduled for the following weekend, December 18th.  We drove all the way down to West Palm Beach, signed all the release forms, went to the dock, unloaded the truck, loaded the boat and headed out to the 1st dive site.  We got out through the inlet and seas were around 10ft.  We promptly turned around and the captain let us off at Blue Heron Bridge to do a shallow dive.  At least the drive down wasn't a total loss.

We have some pictures up on our Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/DiscoverDivingDiveCenter

The week before Christmas, we had to get all of our inventory in order before the rush. LOL  Other then that.  It has been pretty uneventful.  We have another dive trip scheduled for January 7th.  This trip is an advanced dive trip with spearfishing allowed.  If you want to join in on the fun, give us a call at the shop and reserve your space before all the seats fill up.  Looks to be a great trip and our last trip down to West Palm for a while.  The rest of January and first part of February are filled with classes so we will be limited on trips, early in the next year.

From all of us, to all of you:  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy Diving.

Christmas Diving Blues

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, celebrating with friends and family.  All of us here at Discover made lots of new memories for this year.  This year was Ryan's first Thanksgiving in his new house.  Made a turkey and everything. LOL  It was a little touch and go there for a couple of hours but it was a great success.  (He did leave one of the bags of gizzards in the bird but don't tell him I wrote that down here).  As for me, the family got together in Ocala where two of my relatives got stuck on a road that is meant to be a service road.  GPS told both of them to take this road but shortly after turning down the, sugar sand road, they were stuck.  To top of the bad to worse, there is no cell phone coverage where we were.  LOL  Yes, it was very eventful but all worked out and had a great family and friends gathering.

With Christmas right around the corner, most of us have had to put diving on hold.  Unhappy face :(  Don't let that stop YOU from diving.  Currently, the dive trip coming up on Sunday, December 4, 2011 going down to West Palm Beach, is full but hopefully we will have another dive trip down to West Palm before Christmas.  So keep up to date with us on trips and let us know you want to go.  Weather permitting, of course.

Remember, just because it's begining to look (and feel) a lot like Christmas, we are still diving and doing non-diving classes.  Yep, non-diving.  We have a Nitrox, Coral Reef Conservation Specialty and EFR classes scheduled.  We have lots of specials going on this December too.  Just about everything in the shop will have a discount.  Yay!  So come in and take advantage of this before the holidays are over.  Also, remember we have gift cards too, just in case you have no idea what to get your dive buddies this year.

Happy Diving!

PADI - Go Pro Night

We have our Go Pro Night scheduled for February 7, 2012.  All of our past students will be getting an e-mail to this upcoming event.  Our local PADI representative will be on hand to speak at this most informative evening.  All the details will be revealed closer to the actual event but if you have ever wanted to "Live The Dream", this is one night you won't want to be left out of.  There are many opportunities that await you.  We will let the side effects of Christmas and The Super Bowl subside.  After all, we want all of your attention at this get together.  Food, Fun and Friends will all be in attendance.  Mark your calenders early so we can see all your smiling faces once again.  Can hardly wait!

Happy Diving and don't forget to feed the fish!

Warming back up in not so sunny Florida today.

Well fellow divers, the cold front didn't last long.  Back up into the 80's and offshore Daytona Beach is worse for it.  Visibility is still in the single digits.  Seas have calmed down but it will be a couple of weeks before we can see again.  I thought we might be heading down to West Palm this weekend but doesn't look good for that happening.  The charter we use has decided to do the annual servicing and painting this month so that is out of commission.  Looks like we will have to do our check out dives in Williston, FL  this weekend.  I would love to get our new divers into the ocean but that will have to wait.  Looks like fresh water spring dives this go around.

Thanks for checking in and Happy Diving!

Cold front to central Florida.

Yes Florida residents and visitors, it does get cold in Florida. Ha Ha. With a cold front, also comes the closure of Blue Springs. Unfortunately when the manatee come in by the dozens, Blue Springs make the executive decision to close earlier then Nov. 15th. If you didn't get a chance to dive while they were in the run, we were able to get some footage from a local diver who taped his last visit there. We have the entire video showing at the shop now. If you would like to see what it was like, please don't hesitate coming in and having a look. I will see if I can't post up a piece of it, to tease everyone of course. LOL

Hope everyone had a great week. We have a class starting in the morning so you will see another post next week. Unless I have something new and exciting to talk about.

Happy diving!

Blue Springs, Orange City, FL

Had a great dive today at Blue Springs.  Several manatee in the springs today.  A momma and two of her babies, plus some others playing in the flow. LOL   They will be there from now until about March 1st.  The springs will close soon so if you ever wanted to dive with them, now is your chance.  Don't get to close or try to swim to them or you may get expelled from the springs.  It is against regulations to come within 50 feet of them.  As long as they swim to you, which they will because they are super friendly, you don't have to move.  Bring your waterproof cameras and get some great shots!

Happy diving!

Welcome to Discover Diving Dive Center's Blog!

This blog will be postings about days events, specials we may have going on in the store or tips of the day.  Scuba divers new and old should post up funny stories or questions that you need answered.  I am sure, as we get subscribers, they will be very informative on any questions you may have.  I'm sure there will be few comedians in the mix but will get the job done none the less.

Thank you for subscribing and happy blogging.  Don't forget to feed the fish up top.  They are very hungry. ;-D
